This sound detector sensor module detects sound events and provides a digital switching signal for a microcontroller. The onboard microphone picks up nearby sound, while the adjustable potentiometer sets the detection threshold. Use it in clap-activated projects, sound-triggered indicators and educational electronics experiments.

Specifications

Pin Connections

• 5V: connect to a regulated 5V supply.
• GND: connect to the supply and controller ground.
• OUT: connect to a compatible digital input.

Follow the labels printed on the supplied board when wiring. For a 3.3V controller, check the OUT voltage and use suitable level shifting if required; a 5V-powered signal must not be assumed safe for a 3.3V-only input.

Setup and Applications

Start with the normal background sound in your workspace, then adjust the potentiometer until the module responds to the sound event you want to detect. Read OUT in your controller program and verify its idle and triggered states during setup. Brief events may require prompt sampling or an interrupt.

The digital output indicates a threshold event. It does not provide a calibrated decibel reading or an audio signal for voice recording. Clap recognition, timed switching and other behaviours are implemented in your controller program.
