Description

GBU1510 Bridge Rectifier 15A 1000V

The GBU1510 Bridge Rectifier 15A 1000V provides efficient full-wave rectification in single-phase power circuits. It contains four internally connected rectifier diodes that convert an AC input into a pulsating DC output. Therefore, it simplifies circuit construction compared with using four separate power diodes.

This component supports a maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage of 1000V. In addition, its rated average rectified output current can reach 15A when it is installed with adequate heat dissipation under the specified datasheet conditions. Its compact through-hole GBU package also makes it suitable for PCB-mounted power applications.

Main Features

  • Single-phase full-wave bridge rectifier
  • Maximum repetitive peak reverse voltage: 1000V
  • Rated average rectified output current: up to 15A with a suitable heatsink
  • Average current without a heatsink: approximately 3.2A under specified conditions
  • Non-repetitive surge-current rating: up to 200A for an 8.3ms half-sine pulse
  • Maximum forward-voltage drop: approximately 1.1V per diode at 7.5A
  • Four clearly marked AC and DC terminals
  • Glass-passivated rectifier construction
  • Compact through-hole GBU package
  • Suitable for high-voltage AC-to-DC conversion

GBU1510 Bridge Rectifier Pin Configuration

The GBU1510 has four terminals. The two terminals marked ~ connect to the AC source. The terminal marked + provides the positive DC output, while the terminal marked − provides the negative DC output.

Always follow the polarity symbols printed on the actual rectifier body before connecting it. Incorrect wiring can damage the rectifier and the connected circuit.

Common Applications

The GBU1510 Bridge Rectifier 15A 1000V can be used in:

  • AC-to-DC power supplies
  • Battery-charging circuits
  • Industrial control equipment
  • Motor-driver power stages
  • UPS and inverter circuits
  • Power adapters and voltage converters
  • Household appliances
  • Audio amplifiers
  • DIY power-electronics projects

Thermal and Safety Notes

The 15A value is not an unrestricted continuous-current rating. Achieving it requires an appropriate heatsink, correct mounting and operation at the specified case temperature. Without adequate cooling, the permissible current is considerably lower.

Additionally, the 200A figure represents a short, non-repetitive surge rating. It must not be treated as a continuous operating current.

This bridge rectifier only converts AC into unregulated DC. It does not regulate the output voltage or limit the charging current. Consequently, battery chargers require a suitable charging-control circuit. When working with mains electricity, use proper isolation, fusing, insulation and safe discharge procedures.
