Description

Docreate 756 Handheld Spot Welder

The Docreate 756 Handheld Spot Welder is a compact rechargeable tool designed for assembling and repairing lithium battery packs. Its integrated design combines the power source and welding electrodes in one handheld unit. Therefore, it does not require a separate welding pen or a large external power supply.

This portable spot welder is suitable for attaching thin nickel-plated strips to 18650 and other compatible cylindrical battery cells. It is ideal for electronics workshops, DIY battery projects, repair technicians, makers, and educational applications.

11 Adjustable Welding Levels

The Docreate 756 Handheld Spot Welder provides 11 adjustable welding levels. This allows the user to select the welding pulse strength according to the thickness and type of the metal strip.

Lower levels are suitable for very thin battery tabs and delicate applications. Medium levels are recommended for approximately 0.10mm nickel-plated strips. Meanwhile, higher levels can be tested with 0.12mm and 0.15mm strips.

The manufacturer states a maximum welding thickness of 0.25mm. However, welding performance at 0.20mm or 0.25mm depends heavily on the strip material, battery charge, electrode condition, surface preparation, and user technique. For consistent battery-pack assembly, 0.10–0.15mm nickel-plated strip is the recommended working range.

Automatic and Manual Welding Modes

The unit supports both automatic and manual operation. In automatic mode, the welder detects contact between both electrodes and the metal strip before delivering a welding pulse.

In manual mode, the user positions both electrodes on the strip and presses the welding button to trigger the pulse. Consequently, manual mode provides additional control when working with unusual battery shapes or precise welding positions.

Common Applications

The Docreate 756 Handheld Spot Welder can be used for:

  • Building 18650 lithium battery packs
  • Repairing compatible battery packs
  • Attaching nickel strips to battery terminals
  • DIY power-bank battery assemblies
  • Electric bicycle battery maintenance
  • Portable lighting battery projects
  • Robotics and electronics power packs
  • Workshop and laboratory battery experiments
  • Mobile-device battery-tab repair
  • Small-scale battery production and prototyping

Operating Instructions

Fully charge the unit before first use with a regulated 5V/1A power source. Clean the battery terminal and nickel strip before welding because oxidation, oil, and dirt can reduce weld quality.

Select a low welding level initially. Position the nickel strip over the battery terminal, then place both copper electrodes firmly and evenly on the strip. In automatic mode, the unit applies the welding pulse after detecting contact. In manual mode, press the welding button after positioning the electrodes.

Inspect the weld after each test. If the strip separates easily, increase the power gradually. However, if the strip becomes black, burns through, or damages the battery terminal, reduce the welding level.

Safety and Maintenance

Spot welding battery cells requires care. Never weld a damaged, leaking, swollen, rusted, or overheated lithium cell. Avoid repeated welding in the same position because excessive heat can damage the cell.

Keep the electrode tips clean and smooth. If oxidation appears, polish them lightly with the supplied abrasive paper or fine sandpaper. Additionally, allow the unit and electrodes to cool during repeated operation.

Only charge the device using a 5V/1A supply. Do not use high-voltage fast-charging adapters unless they can provide a standard 5V mode. Finally, store the welder with its protective cap fitted in a dry location away from metal objects and moisture.
